Coronavirus (COVID-19): An Update
Posted by Chris Ricaldone on 24 March 2020
We would like to update you on a few things following last night’s committee meeting (which was conducted by conference call - a first for us!).
Further to the latest government measures to curb social interaction in the fight against Coronavirus (COVID-19), we can confirm that all recreational cricket and associated activities are suspended until further notice.
Therefore, the following events/activities have been cancelled:
- NatWest Cricket Force Day (Saturday 28th March)
- Early Season Curry Night (Monday 4th May)
- All pre-season friendly fixtures
- All indoor training/nets sessions at Cranfield
With regard to All Stars Cricket 2020, we expect this to be delayed or possibly cancelled although we are still awaiting official confirmation.
Outdoor training/nets at The Common will not commence until such time that it is deemed safe to do so.
The start of the league season for the Senior teams and all Junior age groups has been postponed until further notice. We are not expecting much, if any, cricket to be played during the first half of the season.
At the present time we are not requesting membership subscription payments for the 2020 season and will review this if, and when, any cricket is able to start. In addition, and noting our CASC (Community Amateur Sports Club) status, we will recognise the financial hardships that some members may go through over the coming months and will ensure that any cricket that is possible this year will be available to all.
We’ll continue to monitor the situation and will keep you informed as and when we receive further information. In the meantime, please comply with the latest government measures and keep safe and well.
We look forward to the day when we once again hear the delightful sound of leather on willow!
